Fortune 500s Missing SEO Opportunity

Along the lines of my post the other day about US Automakers and SEO, it seems that most Fortune 500 companies are also missing the boat.
In our 10 years in the SEO business, we’ve worked with our share of Fortune 500s. It’s always bittersweet. They have so much potential, and so much up-side.
Yet, they ignore the potential of SEO so often:
Fortune 500s have so much CYA maneuvering that they can almost never get anything done. It’s easier to just spend hundreds of thousands on PPC so ‘upper management’ can see their brand on the top half of the page, than it is to take the time to actually fix their sites.

I agree with you Geoff.I have also seen that these fortune 500 companies have SEO missing.They have to work on these and spending thousands on PPC doesn’t mean everything.Geoff i would also like to know that what do you think about Web Analytics?
