Search Engine Marketing, The Very Basics

So what is search engine optimization? SEO is the process of increasing a website’s rankings - or placement - with the search engines.
To get a better idea of what an SEO strategy is, I’ve outlined a very brief overview of the process.
1. A site owner begins to define how they want to be found on the web through developing keywords and phrases that describe the business along with it’s products and services; Keyword Research (we of course assist in or drive this process). Other factors are considered, such as competitors’ SEO Strategies, current SE positioning, the PPC market, etc.
2. With research in hand, the optimization process begins. Things that could be done include; addressing site architecture issues, making the navigation more user and search engine friendly, re-writing content, and of course more relevant links to the site. These are a just few of the factors that may impact a site’s performance in the engines.
3. Monitor and report changes in both traffic and conversions. Then continually optimizing both SEO factors as well as usability and conversion factors.
Through SEO, you have the opportunity to brand your company, increase usability, find leads, and, finally, increase sales. Basically, SEO gives your website the opportunity to be seen, at the appropriate time in the buying process.
