Social Media is about to become a feeding frenzy!
November 6th, 2009
Okay, so much going on with social media right now, it’s turning into a feeding frenzy!
Google, Facebook and Twitter have just signed a SWEET new deal with Bing/Microsoft. Facebook and Twitter will be integrating real-time status updates and feeds into Bing. Bing is new, and not on the top of the Search pile yet, but offering this service could very well bring new users. It will be interesting to see how Bing decides relevancy and rankings for status updates, blog posts and tweets. Pretty cool, though, you put up a new blog post, tweet it and it gets retweeted, you can end up in Bing’s search results.
So, you have a breaking news story, you blog about it, or tweet it, and your tweets could rank quite well on Bing for that event. Big news events have been tweeted before, and the tweets have been a major source of information. February I blogged about a guy using Twitter to inform the world of that plane crash in New York. This was a breaking news story, the folks at Fox News happened to see this guys’ tweets and contacted him for the story. This will potentially happen in real time, bringing the power of the web that much higher. Pretty cool, and it could mean some nice traffic and rankings for bloggers with a good following.
Google, not to be left out in the cold signed a similar deal with Twitter and will be including Tweets in search engine results.
